Assassin Creed launch, why the fake interaction?

I don’t like to be in the criticism seat. But when I look at the campaign below, I just can’t help wonder how a product like Assassin Creed, a game that stimulates passions, games, competition and interaction does a launch campaign that just pretends. Have a go below, you will be given the offer to click to the next level. No choice, no game only silly new windows that open on your screen. Someone has tried here, hard. But why treat the ad campaign differently from the game. If the game was like this no one would play, so why would this advertising work then?
It made me feel the game was dull, gave me no choice, did not want me to interfere.

So as digital moves, please make your camapigns at least as good as your products. For if I did not know the game, this certainly was not make me want to buy it at all...
Sorry...

Oh I love this: coupons made into real fun in Japan technology andideas at work

Have I gone mad? Or a hard sell lover? Neither sadly. I have just seen one of the rare coupon delivery that i have fallen in love with. Why? It's not just a paper handed out or rather thrown out. It's one that is entertaining, fun pushes you to collect or to want to collect. In other words it's not damaging the brand but adding value. Thanks to augmented reality and a very nice idea. So see the butterfly hunt in Japan here:

Best of twitter this week: technology, disasters, employees action, and a great case study. Handpicked for you!

So here is my round up of the week on Twitter. We’ll cover new technology and software for Twitter users, a review of the worst f...up’s on social media, and finish with a great case study from someone who has activelly encouraged its people to engage. Enjoy!

First of all a little tech, see face recognition as new ways to log onto your facebook or twitter accounts:

http://thenextweb.com/mobile/2010/11/10/brilliant-logging-into-twitter-and-facebook-using-your-face-and-voice-video/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+TheNextWeb+(The+Next+Web+All+Stories)

Next is an interesting initiative. Could we use all that’s being said about a brand in a day on the web to write a story? Well these people think so, and I can’t wait to try it:
http://mashable.com/2010/11/06/storify-2/

Now for those of you looking into SM, this is an interesting presentation. It won’t tell you what to do, but it will show you what not to do. A history of screw ups: http://networkedblogs.com/9lwyo

And finally a discussion that is reving up: how companies should deal with social media? Stop people participating, or the reverse. Here is a short article on the subject. For my part I told the agency recently that people who did not have twitter accounts, will get email shut down. Not that Twitter is the be all end all, but because I think that unless you are activelly participating, engaging and searching, you are not able to make real recommendations. People: understand, test, learn, or move away please.

And for those of you who have not seen this case study, a great demonstration of what sociual media can do to your company when people inside embrace it, see this amazing case study:

Youtube star gets endorsed by big time star. Talk about a destiny! #usguys

You might have seen this young star whose videos have become some of the most visited regularly. I featured him earlier in one of my posts (link below). With many videos on youtube, he now has received the visit of 50cents to feature in this new one. A good example of a gig time star playing with a webmade star. Nice show 50cents!

For those who want to save a little time skip to 1’20 to see him come in.

Best of Twitter this week: my favorite dicussions of the week

Social media in a store, beyond the lovelly image, an insightful article:

http://www.briansolis.com/2010/11/the-rise-of-the-social-consumer/

Next is a post from the late adguy;))) Alex Boguski. Reviewing consumer power. Because as he says we are the most powerful force, bigger than any corporations. See him give his view of the adworld and why he said goodbye to 15million dollars in the video on the hompage here: http://fearlessrevolution.com/

Then for a few lessons, here is one that shows for me when social media does not work. People pretending success, but lacking reality and a purpose:social media instead of promotions:

So to finish a post from Cristian about ‘true’ a thought started in our #usguys Twitter conversations.

Music does sell they say? There's an app for that. BEST I've seen for a long time!

This is totally irresistible. I have been high on it for the last week. So at a time when music is said not to sell anymore, Cassius found a great way to give us no alternative but to buy willingly their album. How? Simple, they created an app that sings the song when it hears it. Offering you different mouths to choose from, the result? Just try it once and try to not do it again...and again...
See the original video here and a couple of the hundreds of videos posted by people online. Somehow, no youtube channel but visit their dailymotion page for more.

To download the app here: http://itunes.apple.com/fr/app/cassius-i-3-u-so/id399394777?mt=8
